Freebie Friday and Saving Challenges, oh my!

Welcome back friends! 

Happy Freebie Friday!! This Friday, we're featuring the beneficial honeybee. California has a lot of honeybees, but not so many bumblebees. It has been a huge surprise moving north to find so many bumblebees on our homestead. I hope to capture a photo of one enjoying my little garden soon.

Let's Roll

It's mid-April and I've already reached $40! My FREE 30 Deposits Survey App Challenge is definitely keeping me motivated to reach my online survey side income goal.

As you may remember, I don't have dice at home, so I use this free dice simulator for my rolls: https://www.calculator.net/dice-roller.html 

Starting with the $40 dollars, I'm going to start at challenge 1 and move down the list, rolling a D5 for amount saved. Here is my tally for the games:

#1: $4, $1, $4, $2 = $11
#2: $1, $2, $3, $1 = $7
#3: $4, $1, $3, $4 = $12
#4: $4, $1, $2 = $7 *Brand New!! 

Challenge 1 gets $11 dollars, so I'll color in 5.5 dots.
Challenge 2 gets $7, so 2 more paw prints complete!
Challenge 3 gets $12 dollars, so I'll cross off 2 - $4 and 2 - $2 raindrops.
Challenge 4 gets $7 dollars, so I'll color in 7 honeycomb pieces. Nice start!

Total is $37, I don't want to risk getting something OVER $3, so I'll roll that $3 into my Squirrel Away Savings challenge.

Savings Challenge #1

I'm using one of her March Madness 2026 challenges to save $84 (42 dots x $2). As of today, I have $45 saved! The money saved is earmarked to special order dry organic beans from a local farm. The company offers free shipping on orders over $50 (more than half way there!!). The remainder will probably be rolled into my Squirrel Away Savings.

This challenge is for $50, with each part of the paw print worth $1. Saved $30 so far!!!

As you may remember, this challenge is taking a lot longer than I had anticipated. I'm betting myself $5 this challenge is completed by July.... If July passes and I still have raindrops, I'll put $5 in my Squirrel Away Savings. 😅 As of today I have saved $47.

Final challenge is my NEW Freebie Friday. It's customizable, and I've decided to make it a big one! Each symbol is $6 x 20 = $120. This one will definitely take me a few months. Excited to save that much!

Freebie Friday the 13th: It's Raining Savings!

  Alright friends!  I am so excited to post my FREEBIE FRIDAY the 13th savings challenge available at my Ko-fi shop:  @offgridbudgetwithkay ! This was one of the first challenges I made using my photography. It was taken during a pause in a rainstorm we were having on our property, hence the raindrops with dollar amounts. Planning for March 2026: Zero-Based Budget as a First-Time Homesteader

Spring is almost here friends!  We are hitting a big milestone this month and finally paying off our trailer. It took us about a year, throwing as much extra cash we had at it. Following are our fixed expenses for March: Cell Phone: $130 Car Payments: $1140 Trailer: $160 **PAID OFF Insurance (i.e., car, medical, etc.): $350 Waste Management: $47 Internet: $120 Subscriptions (i.e., streaming services, etc.): $52  Total: $1999 Paying off the trailer is huge, and means we'll have $1000 to put somewhere else next month. This month, after paying the $160 owed (that interest will get you every time!), I had $840 left over. $40 got diverted to my garden savings account, and $800 will go to the home improvement variable expense to help with permits.
